Dear *****,
There is no such thing as an easy political race; there has been no race I've been involved with that came easy. I am not deterred by those other three formidable candidates; I am well aware of them and their accomplishments. I am focused totally positively on the vision I would offer the voters and on no one else.
Keep this in mind regarding this race: the primary, when I succeed in getting on the ballot, will be a three or four way race for the nomination, that means the winner potentially only needs about 30% maybe even less to win the democratic nomination. In 1998, I won 50% of the caucus vote and 33% of the primary vote; In 2000, I won 60% of the caucus vote and 47% of the primary vote. Even if I'm hammered, I believe I have the platform & skill that can pull 30% of the vote at a minimum. In the 2nd District, the winner of the Democratic primary for all and intents and purposes wins the general election because more democrats are registered in that district. Don't get me wrong, of course, I'd love to get a clear victory of over 50% of the v ote. I believe the platform I'm running on should draw that percentage of voters. I will strive to make this so.
Finally, it is true that fear of humiliation might have held me back; but, my attitude is that I am not that person that fell through that rat hole for 4 years. I am a more aware, stronger, more focused, much more compassionate person. I refuse to be held back and labeled as forever damaged goods. I am determined to live out the vision God gave me for my life. I leave the results to him. I believe I have excellent skills that will benefit my district and my nation. I would not come within two feet of this race if I did not believe that I would be and in fact am the person best suited to legislate for our nation at this time in history, with the best vision to lead our district and help lead our nation to tackle the challenges of the early 21st century.
Sincerely, Larry
